ABOUT
Continental Soffitboard is a weather-resistant gypsum board for sheltered exterior ceiling and soffit areas such as carports, covered walkways, parking areas, open porches, and the soffit side of eaves. The board is designed to withstand indirect exposure to moisture and is enhanced to resist sagging.

It also has some inherent fire-resistance characteristics; however, this product should not be used to provide the levels of fire resistance required by various building codes and standards.

Soffitboard contains a noncombustible gypsum core, enhanced for strength (sag resistance). The core is covered with paper facings on the front, back, and long edges.

*The federal specification for gypsum board, SS-L-30d, was withdrawn in 1984. It is provided here for information only and should not be referenced for new construction.

APPLICATIONS
Soffitboard can be used in building applications that require direct mechanical attachment to wood or metal ceiling frames. It will accommodate a variety of paints and textures after proper surface preparation, which includes two coats with an exterior primer.

Soffitboard is designed to provide a sag- and fire-resistant exterior underside panel for both residential and commercial construction applications, including:

The soffit side of eaves
Carports and parking areas
Breezeways
Open porches
Porticos and covered walkways

ADVANTAGES
Ease of installation:
Fast installation similar to that of regular drywall.

Fire resistance: Noncombustible gypsum core helps protect building occupants and contents in case of fire.

Sag resistance: Soffitboard will withstand indirect exposure to moisture and humidity without sagging.
