Firecheck® type C drywall

Continental Firecheck Type C is a gypsum board enhanced with glass fibers and other materials for premium fire protection for interior walls, ceilings and area separations.

ABOUT
The board has a noncombustible gypsum core and paper facings on the front, back, and long edges. It is available in two thicknesses and several edge treatments, and its ivory facing paper will accommodate a variety of decorative treatments after proper surface preparation.

Because of its strengthened, fire-resistant core, Firecheck Type C can remain intact for a prolonged period of time during a fire, preventing the further spread of flames and, when properly sealed at the joints, smoke.

APPLICATIONS
Firecheck Type C is designed for use in applications that require direct mechanical attachment to wood or metal framing or as a component of fire-rated assemblies. It can also be used as a thermal barrier in roof assemblies when specified by the roofing manufacturer.

Firecheck Type C is suitable for various indoor uses, including:

  • Interior walls and ceilings
  • Elevator enclosures
  • Stairwell enclosures
  • Area separation fire walls
  • Roofing substrates

ADVANTAGES
Fire resistance: Firecheck Type C is designed to provide a premium level of fire resistance compared to regular drywall for both residential and commercial construction applications. It is formulated to perform in accordance with ASTM C 1396, Sections 5 and C 36, Type X, Premium, and is UL labeled (Type LGFC-C/A).

Ease of installation: Fast installation similar to that of regular drywall.

Identification: Firecheck Type C is clearly identified by the UL label on the back and the "Type C" printed on the tapered edge of the face of the board.
