The Association of Walls and Ceilings Industry (AWCI) brought the party to New Orleans this year, hosting the 2016 Intex show at the Superdome. With its 16-foot tower structure rising toward the dome high above, Continental’s booth put the spotlight on its innovative Rapid Deco® Level 5 System, featuring the only wallboard in North America with a factory-applied level five finish.
BRINGING THE JOB SITE TO CUSTOMERS
Visitors donned virtual reality viewers and took a trip to a job site where Rapid Deco was being installed. “Our VR station proved to be a huge hit,” says Robbe Pearson, Senior Director, Marketing and Commercial Performance. “It was a fun way for show goers to learn about Rapid Deco without having to physically travel to a site.” Continental employees also handed out cardboard versions of the viewer, which can be used with a special Continental mobile phone app to provide a similar virtual experience.
FINISHING WITH A FLOURISH
Meanwhile, drywall artist and YouTube sensation Bernie Mitchell finished off a landscape masterpiece that he created using Rapid Deco Type X board, Rapid Deco compound and Rapid Joint setting compound.
Mitchell’s artwork attracted massive foot traffic throughout the entire two days of the expo, as visitors pulled out mobile phones to snap photos and shoot video of the artist at work.
This powerful one-two punch of fine art and cutting-edge technology is perfectly aligned with the Rapid Deco brand itself. Visitors now see how factory-finished Rapid Deco Bison Board and the specially formulated Rapid Deco joint compound help achieve a seamlessly smooth, museum-quality level 5 finish in a fraction of the time it takes with traditional methods.
A BISON IN PHILLY
Continental will now take the booth north to Philadelphia for the American Institute of Architects convention and expo May 19-21, where attendees will visit Continental’s booth #3223 for a chance to win an Oculus Rift virtual reality viewer. Enter the contest online here!
